Q. Who is this for and why do I want this?

We designed this for two main purposes. First, it allows you to lift a wheel in an off-road setting for trail repairs without removing the wheel. It's perfect for fixing a flat or slow leak with a tire plug, providing the extra lift needed to repair and re-air in uneven terrain. This method has been successfully used multiple times.

Second, it facilitates roadside repairs or tire replacements. The extra lift makes it easy for the Big Red 10T Bottle Jack to raise either the front or rear wheel effortlessly.

Secondly, it facilitates roadside repairs or tire replacements, allowing the Big Red 10T Bottle Jack to easily lift the front or rear wheel.

Q. Why did we build this?

Answer:

Our backcountry, off-road, and overlanding customers requested this, so we produced a limited quantity. I always carry an XL Magnetic Jack Puck, our Magnetic Jack Puck kit, and a Big Red 10T bottle jack.

This is the best solution for tire/wheel changes and single tire repairs, on or off-road. Pair it with our four-piece magnetic jack puck kit for professional rotations, new tire installs, and on-vehicle repairs. It works with either a floor jack or the 10T Big Red Hydraulic Bottle Jack.

Our puck locks magnetically in place, unlike others that require manual holding while centering the jack. Simply insert our high-energy XL puck, and it will lock onto the chassis of your R1T or R1S, allowing you to use a bottle or floor jack for a high lift on the front or rear of your Rivian.

Q: I only want to purchase one of your magnetic jack pucks and my floor jack has a maximum lift of less than 22". Should I purchase your standard puck or get the XL, as I know the rear wheels require more lift to get the tires off the ground..

A. You will need the XL puck, using the parameters from your question.  This will not only get the rears off the ground with a 19" lift floor jack, but also with the Big Red 10T Bottle Jack from Amazon as well.

Question: My Rivian came with a spare tire kit, which includes the OEM tire change setup featuring a large plastic lifting device (puck). Why should I invest in your magnetic jack puck kit? Am I overlooking something?

Response: You still need our kit. While Rivian provides a single tool for one wheel/tire, it's a subpar solution, as your Rivian requires four tools for proper tire changes. Rivian's approach, often dubbed the "Eiffel Tower Contraption," is bulky and cumbersome to use. Many prefer our kit for its simplicity and effectiveness.

Swapping out a tire/wheel has never been easier with the XL Magnetic Jack Puck from JackPucks.com.

We have also used the XL to do road side nail and screw repair without the wheel ever coming off the vehicle.  1. XL magnetic puck locks into place.  2. Lift the vehicle 2. Remove air from tire to repair  3. Remove nail or screw.  3. Insert a plug with the wheel still on the car.  4. Air up with onboard compressor. 5. Lower  and drive away.

How to properly use XL magnetic jack puck on the rear of a Rivian:

The rear suspension on the Rivian has more suspension travel than the front, which means, when you fully lift a rear wheel off the ground with a bottle jack and any puck, you will notice a serious tilting of the bottle jack (inwards towards middle rear of vehicle).

Because of this, we have come up with a best-practice for use on the rear of any Rivian.  Thanks to Sam C for the write-up.  Double-Pump Method.

  1. Raise the vehicle until the suspension travel/tilt starts showing.
  2.  Open the release valve until the vehicle lowers and the majority of load is off the jack (but do not retract jack).
  3.  Ensure there's enough "wiggle room" to reposition the jack so the ram is directed more in the direction of the suspension tilt or it is straight.
  4. Pump the bottle jack again to completely lift the vehicle.
  5. Repeat 2-4, if needed.
